“Li’l” Ricky Morris (whose right bicep may be larger in diameter than Bobbie Sea’s waistline) started playing guitar at the age of 10, when he really was “Li’l.” He was born in Shreveport, LA, but has been based in Houston ever since. However, Ricky has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. playing music with a wide assortment of talent, including some of the legends. He has played with Johnny Taylor, B.B. King, Albert King, The Drifters, Clarence Carter, Koko Taylor, George Benson, Phil Upchurch, Chaka Kahn and a host of others. His favorite music ranges from Jazz, Blues, R&B, Country, Classic Rock and even some Rap. Ricky is extremely versatile. He can stretch strings on a par the greatest blues players, but has also mastered the chords for the most difficult standards. He can switch from an earth-shaking Hendrix type solo, to doing the quietest of dynamic fills in an instant. Ricky has developed a style all of his own, but arrived at it after studying the works of his favorites; George Benson, Pat Martino, Oscar Petersen, Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Kahn and all the Motown artists and back up musicians. Barry Sea describes Ricky as “the icing on the cake.” Barry continued, “ We had to find an extremely versatile, unselfish, well-schooled guitar player who would compliment the group and not get in the way of our outstanding keyboard player, Dennis Cotton. We also needed someone who truly loved the music. There are a lot of great groups around. We believe that our competitive edge is that people have fun watching and listening to us, because they see how much fun we’re having performing. You don’t find too many guitar players who’ve been playing for decades, who still perform with the spirit of trying to win the love of their first sweetheart. That’s what Ricky brings to the table, along with true expertise and professionalism.”
